"Not to hurt our humble brethren (the animals) is our first duty to them, but to stop there is not enough. We have a higher mission - to be of service to them whenever they require it." ~St. Francis of Assisi
about from the heart
Healing and advocating for animals has been the theme of my life, and it continues to be what I spend most of my time doing. Having spent many years on the front lines around the world, I have a clear understanding of the problems both wildlife and our companion animal friends face today. Combining this perspective with a deep love for animals and an immense passion to help them, I co-founded the nonprofit, From the Heart. Along with direct support to animals, From the Heart also supports educational programs created to teach people of all ages about the human-animal bond, conservation, and how to turn passion for advocacy into action.
"Do not forget us" is the urgent message animals are trying to convey to us.
From the Heart focuses on three areas of need:
1. The urgent need to help our most beloved wildlife species - elephants, rhinos and many more - pushed to the brink of extinction due to poaching, habitat loss, human ignorance and greed. Once they are gone, they will never return.
2. Homeless, unwanted companion animals. In the U.S. the number one cause of death in healthy dogs and cats under two years of age is euthanasia. Over 3.5 million adoptable, innocent animals are killed every year.
3. Educational programs, courses and workshops around the world. People will protect and preserve what they understand and love.
Now more than ever, the non human beings who share the Earth with us have been entrusted to our care. We are their guardians.
